Cambodia - Orphanage History

fran with kids

By the age of three to ten years old Cambodian children have experienced the deaths of both parents dying from AIDS, malaria, starvation, or land mines.
Their grandparents may have been too old to care for them, were starving themselves, or had died. The hope for these children was nonexistent and their future was starvation or being sold to a slave trader.
With the slave traders there were two options:
1 - Turning the children into prostitutes, even as young as age 4.
2 - Making them beggars, sending them off into the streets, sometimes
spacereven dismembering them to bring in more money.

But there is hope.

For the last six years, Fran has been renting buildings for the orphans in Cambodia. Presently, the children are in two small buildings. The bedrooms have wall to wall bunk beds with two children per bed. Fran’s dream is to build or buy a building, a permanent home, for the children. A building large enough to include and protect the children still on the streets.
